5 Continents – 45 Days – 3 BAGS
First time SOLO Travelling on a Long trip. You can look at BIG Suitcase, Cabin bag, Rucksack. First Continent is South America PERU. Landed in LIMA Airport early in the morning 4 AM. Travel Company sent a car, able to manage 3 Bags to come out of the Airport. Had to wait for the room till 9 am. Mean while i left the luggage and went for a walk along the Pacific Ocean. First time i have seen bike paths on Highway. Gym equipment is installed along the shore to excercise.
Evening we had a meeting with Travel Group leader about Machu Picchu 3 Day Trek and Cusco, Amazon Forest, The Sacred Valley. He said, We are not supposed to carry more than 7 kg of weight for the Trek and one cabin bag for the Entire PERU Trip. You can imagine, how difficult it is to down size from 3 Huge Bags to one cabin bag and back pack. It took 3 hours for me to figure out the stuff i can carry in one bag.I Have asked around and observed, what other people are doing about down sizing. They all got one Big ,One backpack. During my journey, Flights have been cancelled Rerouted between the continents, can imagine Carrying 3 luggages and checking in all the time, how much paini have gone through.Since then, am travelling light. You can wash clothes at night and reuse them.
1.Don’t pack thick and heavy clothes: You carry thin layers of sweaters instead of Bulky Jacket.
2.Carry only Dual Purpose Shoes, slip ons.Depending on the Trek and weather in that country.
3.Have Packing cubes and organise it well, easy to find – Toiletry, Inner wears,Shirts,Sweaters,Electronics etc..
4.Prepare a packing list. Ditch all just in case items, stick to your packing list.Keep Checking the weight.
5.Instead of Sanitary Pads, Use Menstrual cup.(If you are a woman 🙂
6.Don’t Carry the Liquids.
